Paragraphs Bookstore has been serving the readers of Knox County, Ohio, since 1996. We sell new books for every age and interest. In addition to greeting cards and unique gifts, we also carry toys from Melissa & Doug.

I never knew I wanted to own a bookstore when I grew up, until I had the chance to buy Paragraphs Bookstore after I had been the manager for seven years. When Lois Hanson agreed to be the manager, I knew it was the right decision.

I have always loved books. My brother and I snuggled next to Mom in bed as she read Mother West Wind or Rabbit Hill. Then I was on to The Black Stallion and The Lord of the Rings. I even enjoyed the law books I had to read while getting my law degree at The Ohio State University.

I practiced law for a few years, but learned that if I wanted to find justice, I’d have to rely on Jack Reacher or Spencer. Books are my escape and the mirror that teaches me what it means to be human. As the owner of Paragraphs Bookstore, I get to create a space in my community where lively minds can meet and discover the best of the new books.

Lois K. Hanson

I taught language arts and social studies for thirty years. In 2003, I began working at Paragraphs Bookstore where Anne has let me follow my love of reading non-fiction, fantasy, historical and young-adult fiction.

The best part of this job is when customers walk into the store, say, "I loved. . . (their last great read)," and I can suggest several books which I know they will enjoy. Or maybe the best part of the job is getting the perfect book into the hands of a young reader. Or is it talking to other book lovers about reading? Too many choices…

I just love working and managing Paragraphs Bookstore.
